Roof repair
A good repair starts by finding the failure—not simply covering the visible symptom.

Follow the evidence
Missing shingles, a lifted roof edge or a stain after rain are reasons to investigate. Water can travel before becoming visible inside, so the repair location may not sit directly above the stain. Leak detection and a wider condition inspection help establish what needs attention.
Match the repair to the assembly
Shingle replacement requires surrounding material that can be handled without breaking it. At chimneys, walls and penetrations, the repair may involve flashing or pipe boots rather than the roof covering itself. Damaged ridge caps and valleys need their own detailing, especially where water is concentrated or wind has loosened exposed edges.
Know when a patch stops making sense
Repeated leaks, extensive brittleness, widespread fastener issues or deteriorated decking can make isolated repairs short-lived. Compare the likely repair scope with replacement before spending repeatedly on the same area. After storm damage, inspect adjacent sections as well as the obvious missing pieces.
